ROCKPORT, Maine – The Maine Department of Marine Resources says it will not make any new rules for the lobster industry this year.
Speaking at the annual Maine Fisherman's Forum in Rockport Saturday, DMR Commissioner Patrick Keliher said his department would not adopt any new rules because they would lead to other problems for lobster fishermen.
Last year, an abundance of soft-shell lobsters early in the year lead to a glut that dropped prices to around two-dollars a pound.
