Brynn Foster is a mom on a mission to turn her healthy Hawaii bakery, Voyaging Foods, into an international company.
Foster started the company in 2006 when she developed TaroBite cookies, intended for teething toddlers, for her son. From there, Foster has been diving deeper into the niche market of creating healthy, gluten-free baked goods and dry mixes using locally-grown canoe plants such as taro, sweet potato and breadfruit.
Foster doesn’t have a storefront for her products but runs a commercial kitchen in Honolulu and distributes to retailers, such as Lanikai Juice, through a wholesale approach. Just this past year, she launched on online store to reach out to more customers as part of her expansion plans.
“Within the next couple of months I want to evolve into an artisan mill,” she said. “My goal is to eventually go international which is why I need my own manufacturing facility, but I’m looking for another baker to join my team so I can focus on getting the right machinery and focus on the business side of things.”
