Dave's Specialty Imports Selects FoodLink For PTI

LOS GATOS, Calif.– FoodLink®, the commerce and traceability platform that connects fresh food retailers and wholesalers to a network of more than 2,000 growers, packers and shippers, today announced that Florida-based fresh berry distributor Dave’s Specialty Imports has selected the company’s produce traceability solution, FoodLink PTI.

“We looked at other solutions, but FoodLink stood out as the most flexible, cost effective way for us to connect with our growers in Central and South America, and to achieve our goals in terms of labeling and traceability,” said Mike Bowe, Vice President, Dave’s Specialty Imports.

FoodLink is unique among providers of produce traceability solutions. The company’s recent acquisition of TrueTrac brought together web-based field-and packing shed traceability solutions with FoodLink’s broad network of buyers and sellers. The result is a web-based network directly linking information from a field where food is grown and harvested all the way through packing, shipping and purchasing by retail category managers, ultimately bringing full visibility to shoppers in the store.

“We have seen a surge of interest in FoodLink PTI as fresh produce suppliers are getting ready for increased buyer demand for traceability data on every order in 2013,” said Kevin Brooks, CMO, FoodLink. “We look forward to working with Dave’s Specialty Imports, and with all FoodLink suppliers to realize the benefits of a practical, cost-effective solution that works across all harvesting and packing environments.”
