Chicago, Illinois – Pastry Chefs Jimmy and Julie MacMillan, in partnership with Bitter Jester Creative have been recognized for their web series that features prominent Chicago chefs. The group was awarded an Emmy by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences at an event held at Alhambra Palace in Chicago.
"This acknowledgement for The Chicago Restaurant Pastry Competition videos is energizing!" states Executive Producer Chef Jimmy MacMillan. "It confirms to me that an artistic, professional portrayal of chefs is as viable as so called 'reality' programming."
JMPurePastry gave Chicago its own pastry competition last year by introducing The Chicago Restaurant Pastry Competition. This was the first pastry competition that spotlighted plated desserts and was filmed to be broadcast worldwide to the pastry community.
Julie MacMillan, Creative Consultant at JMPurePastry remarks, "There are so many brilliant pastry chefs working today that don't get the attention they deserve. This competition looks for the best and brightest and broadcasts them to the largest audience possible."
Executive Producers JMPurePastry hired local production company Bitter Jester Creative to ensure the final product was top-notch. The professional content and creative filmic style struck a chord with the industry leaders. The result was winning an armful of awards; a single Telly Award, two Communicator Awards, and two Hermes Awards.
The group welcomes the recognition, but places special significance on the Emmy Awards.
"In addition to being the most beautiful of all the award statues, winning an Emmy is a game-changing milestone. It's *the* achievement in television: recognition that proves to collaborators and investors alike that we can (and will) deliver on our promises and their investments of time, energy, and money. And it just plain feels great! ", commented Bitter Jester Creative's Nicholas DeGrazia, the Producer/Director of the CRPC videos.
The videos can be viewed on YouTube and feature Chicago Pastry Chefs Sarah Kosikowski, Meg Galus, Jove Hubbard and Greg Mosko as competitors. Chefs Curtis Duffy, Della Gossett and Patrick Fahy are featured as judges.
The now-annual event takes place at The Chicago School of Mold Making, the design center for chefs located just outside of Chicago city limits.
The 2nd Edition of The Chicago Restaurant Pastry Competition is currently in the editing stages and slotted for an early 2012 release.
This year the competition was opened up to pastry chefs from all over the US, not just Chicago. A committee of highly regarded chefs and designers ranked the recipe submissions. The new web series is scheduled for an early 2013 release.
