TROY, Ohio – Hobart announced the launch of its HS Series heavy-duty slicer. In designing the new slicer, the company rigorously applied the revised NSF/ANSI 8-2010 standard. The HS Series includes not only sealed seams, compliant fasteners and removable parts for easy cleaning, but also patented features for better overall operation with every slice. The new Hobart HS Series heavy-duty slicer is available in manual as well as automatic models. The HS Series units will be available for order on 12/3/12 with shipping and delivery on 1/02/13.
“The changes required by the NSF 8 guidelines presented an opportunity to design a heavy-duty slicer that combines the best of the Hobart 2000 and 3000 Series product lines into a new platform,” said Elyce Hall, product line manager of Hobart Food Prep and Slicing. “As a result, the HS Series offers legendary Hobart innovation and reliability, and delivers better overall value for customers.”
Improved Features for Superior Performance and Value
Hobart’s patented CleanCut™ knife offers a thin-edge design that provides improved yield, consistent cuts and reduced cost of ownership. By utilizing a 13” stainless steel knife with stellite-alloy edge, the CleanCut knife lasts significantly longer than other knives on the market. The sharpener comes with Borazon® stones that have a lifetime warranty. The sharpener is mounted on the HS slicer and is easy to operate while keeping the knife-edge shielded.
In addition, the HS Series product tray is designed to enhance the quality of each slice while working together with the removable, rear-mounted, meat grip assembly to ensure secure product placement. Machined grooves on the gauge plate and knife cover ensure smooth and even strokes, reduced drag, heightened precision and improved slice performance. The HS Series automatic models are equipped with three-stroke lengths and four-stroke speeds to handle a wide variety of products. The automatic models now also come with a seamless fence to secure the product during automatic operation.
Hobart’s exclusive zero knife exposure keeps operators from inadvertently touching the blade during the sharpening and cleaning process. An optional knife-removal feature on select models includes a patented knife-removal tool, which enhances cleaning and ensures that blade edges are completely protected.
Easy to Clean with Proven Reliability
Hobart’s patented, removable ring-guard cover prevents debris build-up on cutting surfaces, and the exclusive tilting, removable carriage system allows for thorough cleaning and improved sanitation. Other features supporting NSF 8 standards and overall sanitation goals include:
- Removable, rear-mounted meat-grip assembly
- A no-drip gauge plate designed to direct juices away from the control panel and index knob
- Seamless base
- Fasteners that meet sanitation standards
- A warewash-safe knife enclosed within our exclusive knife-removal tool, ensuring that water reaches both sides of the knife during cleaning
The HS Series comes with a ½-HP knife-drive motor and the automatic versions incorporate a proven belt-drive system to maximize reliability. Hobart Service factory-trained technicians are available to help install, maintain and service the new HS Series slicer.
