SANTA ANA, Calif. — Immediately prior to the first pitch of last Wednesday night's MLB match-up between the Angels and the Mariners, Stremicks Heritage Foods proudly presented a check for $36,550 and counting to support kids at Olive Crest who have suffered from abuse, abandonment and neglect, and ensure they are "Safe at Home". The check was presented to Tom Zeigler, Chairman of Olive Crest's Board of Directors, and Tim Bauer, Executive Director of Development of Olive Crest, by Lou Stremick, President and CEO, and Sam Stremick, Vice President of Sales & Marketing, of Stremicks Heritage Organic Milk. The presentation capped off a second consecutive season-long partnership between Stremicks Heritage Organic Milk, Angels Baseball and Olive Crest – three prominent Southern California-based organizations with health, wellness and family at their core.
Each time the Angels scored a run during the 2012 season, Stremicks Heritage Organic Milk donated $50 to support kids at Olive Crest, an organization dedicated to preventing child abuse, treating and educating at-risk children and preserving the family. Since its establishment in 1973, Olive Crest – with support from companies like Stremicks Heritage Foods – has transformed the lives of more than 60,000 children throughout California, Nevada and the Pacific Northwest. Each time the Angels safely cross home plate this season, it does much more than help win ballgames – each run scored continues to help give victims of abuse what every child deserves: a safe, loving home.
"Stremicks Heritage Foods is a family company that is committed to raising awareness and money for issues that are relevant to the communities it serves," says Lou Stremick, President and CEO of Stremicks Heritage Organic Milk. "We recognize the importance of family and that healthy lifestyles start at home with proper nutrition, care and nurturing. That's why we are proud to stand with Angels Baseball and Olive Crest to strike out child abuse."
Funds raised will help Olive Crest provide continued programming to at-risk children and families, including: Foster Care/Adoption, Residential Homes, Family Preservation and Education.
