Elizabeth, NJ – The Atalanta Corporation, based in Elizabeth, New Jersey, is proud to congratulate Celebrity International and Lenberg Farms for their awards at this year’s American Cheese Society Conference held from August 14 in Raleigh, North Carolina. Considered by many to be the “Academy Awards” of the cheese industry, the American Cheese Society (ACS) awards are a prestigious and notable benchmark for cheese makers throughout the country.
Founded in 1983 to support the artisan and specialty cheese industry, the ACS is a nonprofit organization that promotes product education, development and opportunities to manufacturers, suppliers and distributors within the cheese industry. Over the last 29 years, the ACS has introduced, and subsequently raised the standard and quality of cheeses distributed throughout North America.
For this year’s competition, over 250 companies submitted nearly 2,000 products, making it the largest in ACS history. Atalanta companies faired extremely well, taking home a total of six awards including three second place and three third place awards over a number of categories.
The line of Celebrity International Brand goat and sheep’s milk cheeses, made by the Mariposa Dairy and exclusively distributed by Atalanta and Finica Foods in Canada won four awards, placing in the Fresh Goat’s Milk Cheese category for their flavored Cranberry & Cinnamon Goat Cheese, as well as their Dill, Honey and Mediterranean Goat Cheese flavored cheeses.
In a joint effort between Quality Cheese and Mariposa Dairy, in coordination with Lenberg Farms Classic Reserve Brand for Atalanta, second place was awarded to the Ashley Soft Ripened Goat Cheese with Vegetable Ash in the Goat’s Milk Open Category. For the Lenberg Farms Classic Reserve for Atalanta, the Tania Aged Sheep’s Milk Cheese placed second in the Aged Sheep’s Milk Cheeses, Sheep’s Milk Open Category.
