LAKELAND | Publix shoppers in select markets are getting the chance to test a new digital coupon system.
The free service allows customers to choose coupons from a Publix website and save them to an account. Shoppers then redeem the paperless coupons at checkout by entering their 10-digit phone number.
Currently, Publix is testing only the system at stores in Ocala, as well as in the Birmingham and Huntsville, Ala. markets. A Publix spokeswoman said the chain is collecting feedback on the program before taking any additional steps.
"Coupon usage has increased dramatically over the past few years," said spokeswoman Shannon Patten. "Because of this increase, Publix is piloting a new digital coupon solution."
