Land O’Lakes announced it has closed the transaction that was the subject of a previously announced agreement to acquire Kozy Shack Enterprises, Inc., a market leader in the chilled dairy desserts category in North America.
At the time the deal was announced, Land O’Lakes President and CEO Chris Policinski said, “Kozy Shack is a strong strategic fit with our value-added dairy foods product portfolio. This long-time company – known for its strong brand and reputation for quality — opens the door for Land O’Lakes to achieve future growth in the attractive dairy desserts category.”
Kozy Shack, based in New York, was founded more than 40 years ago and is a leading manufacturer and marketer of premium dessert products in the U.S. and Canada, with a small presence in Ireland. U.S. production facilities are located in Hicksville, NY, which produces 70 percent of its product volumes, and in Turlock, CA. The company also owns and operates a logistics services company, Freshway Distributors, which serves various third-party manufacturers and distributors.
According to Chris Policinski, President and CEO, the acquisition of Kozy Shack offers several benefits. “The acquisition of Kozy Shack represents a new category for Land O’Lakes – refrigerated desserts – which offers our retail customers an even wider selection of premium dairy food products.”
Policinski also noted that Land O’Lakes will apply its extensive sales, marketing, distribution and customer service expertise to expanding sales of these products. And the simple ingredients in Kozy Shack refrigerated desserts reflects the same focus on quality, wholesome products that has been the hallmark of Land O’Lakes for years.
