New Seasons Market will be the exclusive grocery retailer of Bowery Bagels in 2012, offering freshly baked plain, poppy seed, sesame seed, sea salt, onion, everything, whole grain, cinnamon raisin spice, and pumpernickel bagels at all 12 locations throughout the Portland-Vancouver area. A perfect match for New Seasons Market’s dedication to home grown products, Bowery’s bagels are hand-rolled, fermented through a long, slow process that brings out the dough’s flavor and texture, boiled in small batches, and baked to chewy perfection each morning. Bowery Bagels will be delivered fresh to each New Seasons Market location within hours of baking, for that fresh-out-of-the-oven flavor. Bowery’s New York Style bagels are made with simple ingredients, including Shepherd’s Grain flour from the Pacific Northwest and locally milled Bob’s Red Mill flours and grains for incomparable texture and flavor.
Bowery owner Michael Madigan, the founder of Portland’s culinary incubator KitchenCru, began earlier this year to realize his life-long dream of opening a bagelry churning out the kind of bagels he grew up eating in New York. The result is Bowery Bagels, a company that prides itself in using the best ingredients, hiring locally, and taking care of its employees and customers. Bowery is quickly making its mark on the Portland bagel scene with its newly opened Old Town bagelry on NW Broadway.
