Horticulture Businesses Come To Retail's Aid

A group of 8 prominent companies and service providers in the horticulture industry has decided to come together to help retailers sell their floriculture products more effectively. The endeavor, termed the Retail Support Group (RSG), will include assistance with training, advertising, store presentation as well as concept design.

The eight companies participating in the venture are Chrysal, Decowraps, GEDI, PEAKfresh, RMK Beratung & Training, sense marketing & more, Twinpack and Van Dijk Bloemen BV. They will remain completely independently operating businesses, but will collaborate to help chain stores and their suppliers to improve their products, concepts, branding, marketing, presentation and the like whenever the need arises.

Large-scale chain stores have become more and more important to the trade in the last decades, which is largely what has fueled the decision to engage in this type of sales assistance. Many retailers who only sell flowers and plants as one of their many products, such as DIY stores and super markets, have become more demanding of their suppliers: they want their help in seducing the customer, through more advanced sales concepts and innovative marketing support, for example.
