HIGHLAND – Far West Meats, a family owned meat processor founded in 1922, plans to open its rebuilt production plant next month.
In July 2010 a fire ravaged the plant, forcing the owners to move the business into smaller, temporary quarters in Colton.
Quick work by executives allowed the company to maintain about 75 percent of its shelf space in major retail organizations.
And with the new, larger plant – and its state-of-the art equipment – the plan is to recapture the lost space and grow, said Tom Serrato, president and chief executive officer.
