Creating a new type of distributor marketing and procurement group is Legacy Foodservice Alliance's credo, and adding an element of fun brings their mission statement to life. To that end, Legacy announced a contest to distributor and supplier members in anticipation of their upcoming milestone, reaching the 100-member mark. Members have been invited to send in their guess for the date when the 100th membership becomes effective. The day the announcement went out Legacy was deluged with responses. "You could feel the excitement," said CEO Steve Push, "and we were very pleased that the energy was generating amongst our suppliers as well as distributor members."
In less than three years' time the start-up distributor group has stayed true to its core principles, and it's resonating with the industry. Reliability and flexibility in its practices have quickly attracted distributors who are looking for more hands-on support and suppliers who want to get closer to their customers. Simplicity in its operations and transparency in business dealings have retained a loyal following.
It is expected that the 100-member mark will be reached during the summer, and the contest will culminate with a celebration at Legacy's Marketplace slated for October 1-3, 2012, in Baltimore.
