Storye Rye Bread Rises To The 2012 Saveur 100 List

Glastonbury, Conn. – After resurrecting the art of slowbaked rye bread, Storye Bread is honored by Saveur Magazine as one of the 2012 Saveur 100 List.

“In today’s world of instant gratification, it is hard to sell the idea of bringing back traditional Latvian rye bread that takes 38 hours to create,” said Margita Lavallee, Storye Bread Sales Director. “We believed the customers would be able to taste and feel the difference in our natural, handcrafted breads. To have our bread recognized on the Saveur 100 List is incredible validation.”

Storye Rye bread is created using a classic European rye strand and the traditional baking process which entailsallowing the bread to rise for 36 hours before baking it in 2 different ovens – the first for a few seconds at 1000 degrees and the second for a few hours at 500 degrees. This slow process allows more of the nutrients of the rye grain to remain intact, creating bread that retains all its essential nutrients, vital fibers and vitamins.

“A slice sits heavy in the hand; the aroma expresses a malty, fermented tang; the flavor is zesty and alive. Storyerye breads from Latvia are made by hand, using just a few natural ingredients. With a smear of butter, a slice constitutes a satisfying meal,” said the editors of Saveur Magazine.

Storye Bread offers four varieties of bread including: Classic Rye Bread (made with 100% whole grain rye), ClassicRye with Carrots (made with 100% whole grain rye), Fine Rye and the wonderful Fine Rye with Fruit & Nut. All breads are wheat free and use a natural leavening, in place of artificial yeast.

“The pace of modern life can be so fast and yet rye bread is just better when you apply the patience to slow itdown and do it right. With this Saveur recognition, we hope more people will discover the peace of mind that comes from our simple, natural breads,” said Lavallee.
