Courtney Parker, Ph.D. Joins Church Brothers/True Leaf Farms

Church Brothers/True Leaf Farms is very excited to announce that Courtney Parker, Ph.D. has joined our dedicated team as V.P. Food Safety and Regulatory Affairs.

Dr. Parker is a great addition to our senior management team. Dr. Parker shares our passion to be the industry leader in food safety.

Courtney Parker  received a B.S. degree in Microbiology from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and a Ph.D. in Microbiology from UC Davis.

Upon graduation, Dr. Parker joined the USDA ARS Produce Safety and Microbiology Labs in Albany, CA as a post doctoral fellow where she investigated the regulation of genes controlling Salmonella virulence after exposure to soil borne protozoans.

In 2005, after a working in the pharmaceutical industry where she researched the development of bacterial therapeutics to prevent the spread of contagious diseases, Courtney joined Chiquita/Fresh Express in Salinas, CA where she managed global food safety and North American regulatory programs in addition to functioning as a microbiology expert for innovations, field production and manufacturing operations.

Throughout her years in the produce industry, Dr. Parker has been an active participant in trade association activities including the United Fresh Food Safety and Technology Council, Produce Manufacturing Association’s Technical Council, and the Grocery Manufacturers Association’s Produce Committee, and the International Association of Food Protection. Courtney has also been intimately involved in the development of leafy greens GAP metrics while serving on the California Leafy Greens Marketing Association Technical Committee where she now holds a position as an alternate Advisory Board member.
