The first three months of the year were unusually warm in Mississippi and many other parts of the country.
They sure warmed Steve Zischke's heart.
January, typically a slow time of year at his business, Lakeland Yard and Garden Center in Flowood, saw double the sales he normally has that month as people took advantage of temperatures akin more to the start of spring than the dead of winter to restock on home and garden supplies.
"We're thankful. We'd much rather have business on the front end than have to chase it on the back end," Zischke said.
