Speaker Line-Up Grows By One, Rep. David Schweikert To Open ABA Convention

WASHINGTON, D.C. The American Bakers Association is pleased to announce Congressman David Schweikert as the special guest at its 2012 All Membership Meeting—taking place at 1:15 p.m. on April 15, at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess.

“We are very pleased to have one of Arizona’s rising stars officially welcome the group back to beautiful Scottsdale, and kick off our tremendous 2012 program,” said ABA President & CEO Robb MacKie. “Congressman Schweikert will be sharing his insight on the current political and economic climate, preparing us perfectly for the important issues we’ll discuss at the rest of the meeting.”

Raised in Scottsdale, Congressman Schweikert previously served in the Arizona House of Representatives and held office in Maricopa County, where he was recognized by The Arizona Republic for his work as a reformer, voice for fiscal responsibility, and advocate for small businesses and taxpayers. He was elected to Congress in 2010 and sits on the Financial Services Committee. Despite the record large freshman class in the House of Representatives, Representative Schweikert has already distinguished himself. His quiet, principled leadership has helped to change the debate in Washington and begin curtailing the growth in federal spending since 2006.

“Representative Schweikert’s background and incredible reputation will make him a perfect fit for our group,” continued MacKie. “I encourage all attendees to represent their companies at the All Membership Meeting.”

The 2012 ABA Convention, April 14-18, at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, promises to once again be the premier industry event of the year. The theme of “Baking Industry United” celebrates each individual’s integral role in the industry. The convention will bring together hundreds of leaders from America’s baking businesses and their suppliers for networking, idea exchange, and working sessions. Registration will remain open to both members and prospective members until the start of the event. More information may be found at www.americanbakers.org.
