Jane Rezac of Brainard wasn't up for any long conversations as she stuffed grocery sacks into her car in the Super Saver parking lot at 27th Sreet and Cornhusker Highway on Friday.
As her family's designated food shopper and a dedicated bargain hunter, Rezac still had a stop to make at Hy-Vee before heading home to rural Butler County from her every-other-week excursion.
No, she didn't come to Lincoln to stock up on ground beef.
"We haven't bought any hamburger for a long time," she said.
A check on prices at four local stores helps explain why the Rezacs are eating more of their own home-raised beef lately.
