This is to announce that a new company, Chain Reference Inc., has been established as a resource for traceability and quality providing software and equipment as well expertise.
More than ever, there is requirement across industries for tracking what is going on with products and the related activities. Retailers, governing bodies and consumers increasingly want more visibility as to the source of their products as well as the assurance that the quality and safety of the items they are purchasing meets expectations. In addition, there are concerns such factors as origins, fair trading practices, employee care, anti-counterfeiting, and environmental and sustainability issues.
Companies in all parts of the supply chain are being required to gather more information about their products and processes. Regardless of size, type, or location, all companies who supply to large retailers in particular need to comply with the ever-increasing demand for information and controls, not only for their footprint, but also from trading partners further up the chain.
For many companies, the recording of data for these initiatives is becoming unmanageable, while the cost of implementing a typical solution is too often prohibitive.
But there is an answer in the works that is affordable and manageable, and one that can enable companies to comply with the demands for traceability and quality controls.
The convergence of available technology with the current needs of industry make it now possible to effectively gather the required data, put the right controls in place, and have visibility in real time.
Chain Reference Inc. is developing a new software program built using the latest software tools that enable devices such PCs, tablets, smartphones and other mobile terminals to be deployed to track and see what is happening with products and related activities. Product identification can be done with labels, markings, and RFID tags.
Some of the industry applications include tracking for food safety and traceability, processing, packing, distribution, foodservice, on-farm supplies and applications; healthcare, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, and assets. Current initiatives such as GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative), PTI (Produce Traceability Initiative), and others such as those based on GS1 standards are being addressed.
Building on 20 years of experience with data collection and reporting in processing facilities across North America, Chain Reference Inc. has been formed to provide easy-to-use, configurable, scalable and affordable tools to achieve traceability, help ensure quality, and improve operational efficiencies.
Chain Reference Inc.'s mission is to help companies easily and affordably track materials and activities to improve workflow, reduce costs, and better serve their customers.
