iBulb has recently been set up by a collective of Dutch bulb flower wholesalers, to function as a marketing and promotional organization as well as research center for the bulb and bulb flower sector. The platform will fill the void left by the demise of the International Flower Bulb Center.
Voluntary financial contributions by a group of 85 bulb wholesalers from the Netherlands fund the new foundation. Those participating companies represent no less than 90 percent of the entire turnover in bulbs, initiator Anthos – the Royal Dutch Trade Association for Nurserystock and Flowerbulbs – states.
Nearly three quarters of the organization’s budget, which amounts to 2.2 million euros, will be used for bulb-promoting efforts and campaigns. The remainder will fund market research as well as research into cultivation techniques.
