This individual or company is connected to the floral industry locally, nationally, or internationally. They may be a retailer, wholesaler, grower, educator, etc. and have demonstrated outstanding service to the floral industry of America.

Here is a little information on Marie Ackerman AIFD, PFCI that was submitted to the MFA Awards and Nominations committee:

Marie Ackerman is a 25-year veteran of the floral industry who began her career as a designer in an East Coast retail flower shop. She has written three textbooks on floral design, created five point-of-purchase books for retail florists and has pioneered many innovative seminar formats and participant-centered learning methods for the floral industry. She has taught and studied all over the world and is one of the most sought after speakers and instructors in the floral industry.
Marie’s industry credentials speak of her commitment to the floral industry and to her community. She is a member of the American Institute of Floral Designers and has served as its Associates Members chairperson and editor of its newsletter. A member of the Professional Floral Commentators International and served a two year term as its national chairperson. She is an active member of the Society of American Florists and was the recipient of the 2002 Tommy Bright award from PFCI.
Marie is known for the innovative “Commentating” Class that she teaches each year to florists who want to improve their public speaking skills. She says the goal of teaching this class is to help others reach deep inside themselves to find their inner strengths and abilities. She currently serves as the Vice President of Educational Services for Teleflora.
The Michigan Floral Association would like to recognize Marie for her achievements and for her dedication and commitment to the floral industry. Marie has worked with the Michigan Floral Association in providing our conferences with the best floral presenters in the industry.
