Citing Weak Sales, Raley’s Closing Two More California Stores

Raley’s Inc. said Friday it is closing two more stores — and some employees could be laid off.

The West Sacramento-based supermarket chain said it will close a Raley’s store at 10385 Folsom Blvd. in Rancho Cordova in mid-April and a Nob Hill Foods store in Milpitas at a date still uncertain.

Raley’s is shuttering the stores because of weak sales.

“The decision to close the stores was made following a review by the company to identify under-performing stores and determine the future sales volume,” a company statement said. “While several factors were considered in reaching this conclusion, it was clear from our review that future sales would not be able to match the increasing operating costs at both of these locations.”
