66th Annual Membership Conference Treks West To The City Of Angels

Columbia, SC—The 66th Annual National Association of Produce Market Managers (NAPMM) membership conference takes place March 28-31, 2012, in Los Angeles, CA, and promises to be one of the most dynamic meetings to date.

“Every few years, the NAPMM Board looks at regions where we’ve not held the conference and Southern California, with its booming economic engine of agriculture, was an obvious choice,” said NAPMM President Ben Vitale.

The 2012 conference schedule features retail, wholesale, and farm tours, including the historic LA Farmers Market at Third and Fairfax, the LA Wholesale Produce Market in downtown Los Angeles, the thriving Santa Monica Farmers Market, and a trip to Oxnard, CA, one of the most fertile and diverse areas of agriculture in the Country, for farm tours.

Breakout sessions and roundtables will cover special projects and best practices in wholesale and retail markets, as well as a partnership update between NAPMM, USDA, and United Fresh.

“NAPMM doesn’t have a strong membership presence in Southern California, so our strategy was to bring the conference to Los Angeles in order to network and grow our roster with wholesale and retail members,” Vitale noted.

The conference will be held at the Marina del Rey Marriott, a resort five miles north of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). NAPMM’s nightly rate of $159 is valid two days before and after the conference dates. The deadline to guarantee registration is March 8, 2012.
