West Grove, PA — The Conard-Pyle Company/Star® Roses welcomes two roses to the popular Eyeconic™ series. Gardeners in zones 8-9 on the West Coast can now add Eyeconic™ Lemonade and Eyeconic™ Pink Lemonade to their gardens.
“For years breeders have been trying to make Hulthemias more ‘gardener friendly’ by crossing them with more traditional roses,” says Jacques Ferare, vice president of License and New Product Development, Conard-Pyle/ Star® Roses. “We are excited to introduce two of these new hybrids from breeder Jim Sproul. Jim has been working for the past 15 years to refine his breeding work on Hulthemias.”
Hulthemias are known for their characteristic red blotch. They typically only bloom once in the spring. The goal of breeders has been to develop roses with the wonderful characteristics of modern roses; re-blooming, pleasing habit, and disease resistance, with the unique red blotch of the Hulthemias.
It is best to trim Eyeconic™ roses back to a third of their size in early spring. Also, be sure to water well for the first few weeks to help them get established in their new garden location.
