Cypress Grove Chevre's Sgt. Pepper & Psychedillic Chevre: Bold Flavors & 60s-Themed Labels

ARCATA, Calif. – Cheese lovers have tie-dyed and gone to heaven with the recent introduction of Sgt. Pepper™ and PsycheDillic™ fresh chevre flavors feature new combinations of herbs, spices and pollens, and eye-catching, retro labels. Using kaleidoscopic colors and designs inspired by 1960s pop culture, the labels are in part a nod to Cypress Grove’s home in Humboldt County, Calif., sometimes described as a flashback to that era.

Sgt. Pepper and PsycheDillic are available nationally at specialty and natural food stores along with many fine grocery retailers. The 4 oz. disks of fresh chevre have a suggested retail price of $6.49 each.

The Northern California artisan cheesemaker is known for cheese of exceptional quality and for bringing a distinctive flair to their product names and packaging. The building block of the entire line of flavored chevres is Cypress Grove’s award-winning natural chevre, which is a gold medal winner at both the International Cheese Awards and the U.S. Cheese Championship Contest.

Cypress Grove Chevre Founder Mary Keehn was a pioneer in bringing artisan goat cheese to the U.S. nearly 30 years ago. She led the way then, and she’s doing it again. “In the flavor world, I’ve found that a combination of two flavors works well, but it’s the third and sometimes the fourth flavors that give you that fully rounded complexity that elevates the eating experience and enjoyment of cheese,” Keehn explained.

For Sgt. Pepper, Keehn selected four peppers from around the world and added a blend of spices plus orange chili pepper threads to lend both a visual and flavor appeal. It can be served on a plain baguette or mixed into pasta with chopped tomatoes and basil for a creamy sauce with a real kick. Keehn considers Sgt. Pepper “the ultimate topper” adding peppery pizzazz to any burger.

PsycheDillic combines dill pollen and dried dill leaves, resulting in an intense smell and flavor that will leave your palate trippin’. Keehn calls it “dill squared” and points out that “the pollen has a depth of flavor that you just can’t get using dried dill alone.” PsycheDillic holds its own with bread or crackers and adds a bold, dill-icious zest to grilled fish, vegetables or pasta.
