OVIEDO, Fla. – Duda Farm Fresh Foods continues its leadership in celery innovation and announces today that the company has been granted seven new patents for their celery varieties.
Duda is a leader in celery development and has invested decades of time and research, using traditional plant breeding methods, to create the perfect tasting celery that fits into consumer lifestyles.
“Our proprietary varieties have been nurtured and developed over many decades based on our research which tells us that color, quality and flavor are of the utmost importance to consumers,” said Dan Duda, president and chief operating officer of Duda Farm Fresh Foods. “Our goal is to meet and exceed these consumer expectations every time they purchase a Duda Farm Fresh Foods celery product.”
Duda’s Manager of Seed Research, Dr. Larry Pierce, has devoted his career to developing celery seed varieties that set Duda Farm Fresh Foods apart from other celery growers.
“We are developing celery to improve two of the major points that customers have been concerned with. One is texture and the other is flavor,” said Dr. Pierce.
“We are putting our best eating quality into this product. Our varieties have been developed specifically to ensure that the consumer enjoys a crunchy texture with minimal strings and a sweet flavor that they want to consume again and again.”
The patents cover both Duda’s “Sweet Sensations” and “Celery Sensations” varieties, each with unique attributes and benefits to the consumer. Three of the varieties are specialized “Celery Sensations” varieties developed with a special hollow stem to create high quality, natural celery straws. The “Sweet Sensations” varieties are special developments specifically focused on quality of flavor, including special classes for Duda’s fresh-cut celery sticks that provide a consistent quality on a year-round basis.
In addition to these varieties, Duda submitted five additional applications to the patent office earlier this year for new developments.
“Duda Farm Fresh Foods remains committed to taking innovation in celery development to the next level,” said Dan Duda. “When you taste it, you will realize the difference.”
