Biodegradable Food Service, LLC (BDFS) announced today the launch of its Earth-To-Go line of PLA cups, clamshells, portion/soufflé cups, salad bowls, and deli containers. The line should be available for shipment in late December 2011.
Because the products are BPI certified to meet ASTM D6400 specifications, all items can be submitted to commercial compost facilities (where available) capable of processing according to ASTM D6400 specifications.
The availability of containers intended specifically for cold food and beverages is the inevitable complement to BDFS’s TaterWare, Earth Cups, and Earth Bowls designed primarily for hot foods and beverages. With the new line, the breadth of BDFS products becomes even more inclusive for operators that offer a wider range of portable food and beverage selections.
Kevin Duffy, President of Biodegradable Foodservice, said that “Over the years we’ve turned away too many customers looking for sustainable cold-food and cold-drink solutions, so we’re very excited to have found at last a set of products that meet our price-performance criteria.” He added “Our competitive pricing is what we hope will differentiate us in an established market and convince new customers to choose Earth-To-Go PLA.”
Biodegradable Food Service LLC is based in Sunriver, Oregon. The company has specialized in the manufacture of responsible, earth-friendly packaging and single-use tableware for the foodservice industry sector.
