Eric Schlacht has purchased Gipaanda Greenhouses from David and Sarah Ryall. The 18 acre greenhouse and packing facility in Ladner, British Columbia, Canada has been renamed Delta View Farms.
Delta View Farms will continue to grow Blushers, Sweetcherry, Tomato Gems, Tastini, Roma and Beefsteak tomatoes and market them through BC Hot House Foods Inc. Their mission will be to provide consumers with premium greenhouse vegetables, develop new and exciting varieties, be an industry leader in innovative technology and be a positive contributor to the community.
‘Going forward we would like to focus on specialty tomato varieties and continue to search for new products and innovative ways to package our products to appeal to consumers,’ notes Schlacht.
‘David and Sarah grew tomatoes for BC Hot House for over 30 years and we look forward to working with Eric and the grower/management team at Delta View Farms to continue this partnership for years to come,’ says Mike Reed, President of BC Hot House Foods.
Schlacht grew up in the greenhouse industry and was involved in all areas of daily greenhouse operations. He holds a Horticulture Diploma, a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and past experience with Farm Credit Canada as a Relationship Manager.
Delta View Farms will be lead by Eric Schlacht. He will hold the position of President and be the face of the company to the industry and the community. Schlacht is jumping in to be engaged in all aspects of the business, from day to day operations to strategic development. Both David and Sarah Ryall are staying on as consultants through April to ensure a smooth transition. As well, David Ryall will remain on as Chairman of the Board at BC Hot House Foods.
