STOCKTON – Alpine Packing Co., a 75-year-old Stockton meat processor whose products include the hot dogs featured at San Francisco Giants and 49ers games, has been sold.
Trent Kaeslin, former chief executive and grandson of Alpine's founder, Josef Kaeslin Sr., confirmed the sale but said he could not disclose further details under terms of the transaction.
The buyer, Rick Martin, was in Stockton on Tuesday conducting a series of meetings at Alpine Packing offices on Lower Sacramento Road in north Stockton. He was unavailable for comment. Martin also is president of Martin Purefoods Corp., a Pomona-based meat processor whose products include hot dogs and Philippine-style sausages.
Alpine Packing, perhaps more commonly known as Alpine Meats, was founded in 1936 by Kaeslin Sr., a Swiss immigrant who learned sausage-making as a young man in his homeland.
