Certification is not new to Pacific Plug and Liner. Yet recently they made the decision to begin certification with MPS-ABC. Pacific Plug and Liner explains: “We see certification as an instrument that helps us to get recognized as a business concerned about long term sustainability. Being associated with MPS will be a positive influence on our development of good business practices”.
Started in 1999, Pacific Plug and Liner has rapidly grown into a leader in the young plant industry offering a wide variety of annuals, perennials, grasses and woody ornamentals. The primary goals of Pacific Plug and Liner are to supply quality, service and dependability to all of its customers. Today, PP&L offers a wide range of both annual and perennial seed and vegetative young plants to meet the growing needs of their customers. The step to MPS-ABC certification means that Pacific Plug and Liner can also show that its assortment is being produced in a sustainable way.
Pacific Plug & Liners explains that one of the arguments to choose MPS ABC certification is the fact that they perceives MPS as, ‘designed for growers and at the same time, promoting good business and environmentally positive practices’.
MPS-ABC is recognized worldwide as the environmental scorecard with over 4,000 participants in 55 countries. The basic principles of the system are a registration of 5 themes: use of crop protection agents / fertilizers / energy / water and waste, on a periodic basis. Through the qualification (MPS A, B or C), a grower is compared to other growers of similar crops in similar environments.
