Farmer’s Best Plans Panel & Tips Geared To Help Retailers Sell More

Nogales, AZ  – A leading grower/shipper of produce from Mexico wants to help supermarket chains sell more produce in a challenging environment.

The effort, themed “Get Selling!”, is being launched by Farmer’s Best, Intl, and is comprised of a team of recognized retail experts to help produce personnel think in fresh, new ways about how to appeal to harried shoppers today.

Farmer’s Best director of marketing Jerry Wagner explains:

“Supermarkets are now operating in an increasingly-competitive environment where cash and time-strapped consumers may not be buying as much produce as they could. Or, worse even, they’re buying produce elsewhere. This is a way to help our chain customers think outside the box for creative ideas to grab shopper attention and sell more.” The effort is also a way to redirect the “center store” focus of the major food manufacturers:

“We’re committed to healthier eating, and we believe the produce department plays a key role in this education.” Wagner says.

The new marketing initiative involves “tip sheets” published and distributed direct to the company’s customers. “We’re using social media to ensure this information is right at their fingertips” explains Wagner, noting that documents will be downloadable from the company’s web site and blog as well as distributed via their merchandisers.

Seminars about effective selling techniques will also be available to via webinars, e-manuals and actual classroom sessions at chain locations.

The first document of the series is authored by James Tenser, researcher for the University of Arizona’s Retail Institute and Executive Director of the In-Store Implementation Network, an organization with 1,400 members in 28 countries.

Additional program experts will be announced later in the season.
