Immokalee, Fla. – Six L’s – North America’s largest field tomato grower – has changed its name to Lipman. The renaming applies to all divisions of the company: research & development, farming, processing, repacking, and procurement. As a result, subsidiaries, including Custom Pak and RediPlants, will now operate under the Lipman name.
“Since Max Lipman founded this company more than 60 years ago, the times – and now our name – have changed, but our core values remain the same: building lasting relationships with our customers, being responsible with our natural resources and the health and wellbeing of our people and families,” said Kent Shoemaker, CEO of Lipman.
The company’s new website (www.LipmanProduce.com) recently launched and is the first step in Lipman’s online rebranding, which will soon include consumer-specific content. The goal is to emphasize Lipman’s vertically integrated network of operations that follows produce from seed to delivery.
“We’re proud to be on the forefront of the agriculture industry – providing our customers ‘access to the acre’ each step of the way,” added Shoemaker. “By rebranding, we are able to position Lipman as a family of brands working together toward a common goal: fresh dependable produce 365 days a year.”
Lipman’s “access to the acre” philosophy enables customers to communicate with and receive information directly from farmers. It also allows for increased traceability throughout the distribution process – starting with research. The company’s team of in-house scientists, led by Dr. Mark Barineau, works diligently to maximize outputs and grow approximately 100 million seedlings a year.
Lipman commands a large percentage of the $1.28 billion tomato industry and employs approximately 4,000 workers in 22 locations throughout North America.
