FAIRVIEW — Jennifer Perkins sees Asheville fast becoming a destination not just for sightseers, but tastemakers as well.
As the owners of Looking Glass Creamery in Fairview, Perkins and her husband, Andy, have been handcrafting cheeses from local goat and cow milk since 2009, winning recognition from gourmands and national retailers.
Their Ellington cheese will be featured in the October issue of Cooking Light Magazine, set to hit newsstands in a few weeks. Gun and Garden, another upscale magazine, has aready named Ellington as one of the South’s top 10 cheeses.
Williams-Sonoma will feature Ellington along with the Perkins’ Pack Square and Chocolate Lab cow milk cheeses in a collection available through the gourmet retailer’s catalogue and website.
