Cub FOODS Launches September 'Give A Little, Feed A Lot' Hunger Action Month Food Drive

STILLWATER, Minn.– As quickly as Minnesota food banks and local food pantries can line their shelves with essentials, the product disappears almost overnight. It is estimated that 1 in 10 Minnesotans suffers from food insecurity. The need for families to secure food is urgent as more Americans are dealing with long term unemployment and many are discovering the few dollars they do have goes only so far leaving no room to purchase such basics as bread, milk or fruit.

Committed to supporting the ongoing fight against hunger within the state, Cub FOODS, KSTP-TV, Malt-O-Meal and Dr Pepper Snapple Group are partnering to sponsor the Hunger Action Month food drive under the banner “Give a Little, Feed a Lot” during the month of September at all Cub FOODS stores in Minnesota. All proceeds will go to Second Harvest Heartland and Minnesota’s Feeding America Food Banks, including Channel One Food Bank and Food Shelf, Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank and Second Harvest North Central Food Bank.

Cub FOODS customers can support the cause in two easy ways: by purchasing a Community Cupboard Bag that is already filled with a complete meal or any dry packaged food and placing it in the specially marked donation bins in the store, or by making a cash donation at the checkout register. The Cub Community Cupboard Bags will benefit local food shelves. The customer cash donations will go to Second Harvest Heartland. Together, the campaign aims to raise $300,000 and 2.1 million meals.

Helping Fight Hunger One Bowl at a Time

The Malt-O-Meal Company is also offering breakfast lovers a unique opportunity to stock up on their favorite cereal while making a donation during Hunger Action Month. Throughout September, customers can look for special 2 for $5 pricing on select Malt-O-Meal® cereals and 4 for $5 on Better Oats® brand instant oatmeal. For every Malt-O-Meal brand cereal or Better Oats brand instant oatmeal purchased during Hunger Action Month, the Malt-O-Meal Company will make a food donation, with a goal to donate one million servings of breakfast to families in Minnesota.

Snapple and Maroon 5 Release “Tea Will be Loved” Iced Tea to Benefit Feeding America

Snapple® and Grammy-award winning pop-rock band Maroon 5 have partnered to launch “Tea Will Be Loved” – a delicious blend of healthy green tea and tasty black tea with notes of pomegranate and berries. Tea Will Be Loved will benefit Feeding America by helping to provide 1,750,000 meals to those in need. As part of the partnership, Snapple and Maroon 5 will donate $50,000 to Feeding America during the Minnesota State Fair.
