Changes At Fair Flowers Fair Plants

The Fair Flowers Fair Plants certification system has seen some developments as of late: a number of growers and traders have left, while two new chains have also joined the accreditation program. Moreover, cooperation with other, similar, certifications has been undertaken and will soon result in an increase in participating producers and therefore products.

Austrian garden center chain Bellaflora and German florist chain Florito have recently joined the Fair Flowers Fair Plants program and will be selling its certified flowers shortly. The Dehner garden center, which also operates in Germany and started selling FFP products in April of 2010, has indicated it will soon be expanding its FFP assortment.

The German market in particular, has lately shown a lot of buzz regarding Fair Flowers Fair Plants. At the recent IPM Essen trade fair, five growers and three producers received the SQ certification that allows them to supply under the FFP label. A number of new wholesalers joined the program as well, providing new sales venue for the sustainably produced flowers.
