Paula, CA – Bringing two companies together usually requires a lot of paperwork. In the case of Fides Oro – the merged organization of Fides and Oro Farms – the merger also requires the use of heavy machinery, to physically move greenhouses from Costa Rica to Guatemala. For the 2011-2012 season, Fides Oro is concentrating all production except for geranium and Kalanchoe in Guatemala.
With this move to Guatemala, Fides Oro will have the ability to expand farm production, make shipping more efficient with a reduction in the use of packaging, and more easily fill complete orders by having more products concentrated in one location. In fact, the Guatemalan location combines the best of both worlds for Fides Oro – remaining the reliable and high quality production company it is known to be while making production even better. The team in Guatemala provides excellent plant material and will produce the same high-quality cuttings at their facility while also bringing technical knowledge and experience to their customers.
"Fides Oro can and will provide growers with our extensive experience of over 45 years of breeding, production and growing our products all over the world," says Harry Kloppenburg, President of Fides. "In our effort to continue to supply high quality cuttings, our production, planning, logistics, customer service, sales and marketing divisions work close together, all with the same goal: to provide growers with the best product and service available."
