Wisconsin Potato Growers Partner With Feed My Starving Children

Hundreds of volunteers showed up at the Stevens Point Municipal Airport this past weekend to pack about 200,000 servings of MannaPack Potato meals, developed by the non-profit Christian charitable organization, Feed My Starving Children. The Wisconsin Potato & Vegetable Growers Association sponsored the potato-meal packing event to help feed hungry children all over the globe. MannaPack Potato servings are formulated to prevent starvation in children using dehydrated potatoes, vitamins and minerals.

Mike Carter, CEO of Bushmans', Inc. near Rosholt, said he heard about the program through the United States Potato Board and decided to accept the challenge and host a mobile packing event in Wisconsin.

"My wife and I were very moved by this program," Carter said. "The packing process is simple but powerful. Volunteers work in teams to measure ingredients into bags, weigh them, and heat-seal the filled bags. The completed meals are boxed and shipped to starving children around the world."
