HARRISBURG, Ore. — One day of unexpected showers took Willamette Valley produce farmers for a loop when it destroyed their cherry crop.
One farmer says no longer will his crop be available for commercial sale but only available for u-pick harvesting.
That's because his Lambert cherries absorbed so much water with the warm temperatures and large amount of rain that they burst.
Even though the sugar is still there and the fruit still tastes good, the look of them makes them no longer desirable for commercial use.
