Residents of Lehi, Utah, celebrated summer with the sweet taste of watermelon during the grand opening of the newest Macey’s Supermarket, an Associated Food Store, as it opened its doors for the first time at 760 E. Main Street on June 29th.
Shoppers of all ages were welcomed in by the 2011 National Watermelon Queen, Whitney Conner, and Macey’s President Paul Stratton. Both were on hand for the day’s festivities, which included Queen Whitney giving away watermelon recipes, activities and other goodies.
The grand opening event featured watermelon festivities, contests and games throughout the day.
The opening of this Macey’s was special in that it showcased the world’s largest watermelon display. Three truckloads of watermelons equaling 180 watermelon bins were on display for this grand opening event.
