PORTLAND, Ore. — The U.S. grocery and retail specialty division of Argo Insurance, a member of Argo Group International Holdings, Ltd., has developed an innovative online safety training program for grocery stores and supermarkets. Through a series of courses, the program focuses on common hazards within the grocery industry and offers practical training and solutions to promote safety awareness and prevent accidents.
"The E-Learning Center provides a structured and consistent method of safety training for our grocery clients," said Grocers President Bill Meisen. "Training promotes safe work practices, increases employee safety awareness and prevents customer and worker accidents, which is the key to controlling or reducing insurance costs over time."
Grocers Insurance online courses are intended to complement its clients' operational and customer service training programs. Each course is followed by a quiz, which allows employees to test their knowledge of the course content and document successful completion of each course. The learning management system allows Grocers Insurance clients to track their training program results by store, department and course.
Courses include General Supermarket Safety; Cuts & Lacerations Prevention; Slip Trip & Fall Prevention; Lifting & Stock Handling Safety; Bakery/Deli; Meat; Grocery, Stocker and Receiving; Produce; Courtesy Clerk; Cashier & Front End; Store Management Safety Leadership; and OSHA. Spanish language versions of General Supermarket Safety; Cuts & Lacerations Prevention; Slip, Trip & Fall Prevention; and Lifting & Stock Handling Safety are also available.
The E-Learning Center is accessible via Argo Group's Grocers Insurance Website, www.grocersinsurance.com. The safety training program is available at no cost to grocery and supermarket policyholders and for a fee to groceries and supermarkets that are not Grocers Insurance policyholders.
