An expanded partnership between the retailer and farmers will bring more Ontario-raised beef to about 150 stores across the province.
Packages are marked with the Ontario Corn Fed Beef label.
The agreement between the Ontario Cattle Feeders' Association and Loblaw Companies Ltd. involves 500 Ontario cattle farms providing beef to retail store meat counter displays. That's up from 240 farms last year. Cattle farmers are sending about 3,000 animals a week to Loblaws, a dramatic increase over the 450 a week they were shipping until recently.
