Lunds Again Plans Downtown Minneapolis Grocery Store

Lund Food Holdings Inc. may finally move ahead on its plans for a downtown Minneapolis grocery store, something it's pursued off and on for six years.

The Star Tribune reports that the company expects to open the grocery store, along with a liquor store, rain garden and office space, at 12th Street and Hennepin Avenue, next spring. Edina-based Lund Food Holdings owns most of the block already.

Lunds had planned a downtown store for years. It eventually built a 26,000-square-foot store in Northeast Minneapolis, but the project at 12th and Hennepin has been on hold for seven years.
