Caravan Ingredients Raises $50,000 For March Of Dimes

Caravan Ingredients raises over $50,000 for the March of Dimes through the premier fundraising event, March for Babies. Funds raised support the March of Dimes' effort to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.

In an employee led effort, the company rallied together to raise $50,655. Caravan Ingredients matched their employees fundraising efforts dollar for dollar and as a result fundraising and employee participation more than tripled from the previous year. Bret Woodson, Vice President Human Resources at Caravan Ingredients said "It is only through the commitment and passion of our employees that we were able to substantially exceed our goals for this year’s event. The purpose of our company is to improve the quality and sustainability of life. It is this purpose that helps drive the partnership and connection with the March of Dimes' mission."

March for Babies is the March of Dimes’ leading fundraising event that benefits all babies. Since its inception in 1970, March for Babies, formerly known as WalkAmerica, has raised more than $2 billion nationwide for mothers and babies.

2011 marks the fourth year Caravan Ingredients has participated in this employee led effort to support the March of Dimes. The March of Dimes is particularly important to Caravan Ingredients because together they share one large commonality: folic acid. A large part of the March of Dimes’ mission is to promote the health benefits of including folic acid in a healthy diet. Folic acid plays a major role in reducing the life-long effects of neural tube defects such as spina-bifida in premature babies. Caravan Ingredients is the world's number one supplier of folic acid to the grain industry.
