SavingStar, a paperless grocery coupon service, has added Kroger Co., the nation's largest traditional grocer and parent of Ralphs Grocery Co., to its list of retailers offering its e-coupons.
The addition of Kroger (NYSE: KR) to SavingStar’s network of retailers increases the number of grocery and drug stores offering its digital coupons to more than 24,000 stores nationwide.
Shoppers who download the SavingStar app on their iPhone or Android smartphones can select coupons on brand name items – including H.J. Heinz Co. (NYSE: HNZ), Clorox Corp. (NYSE: CLX) and Welch’s – and then redeem them through their loyalty card when checking out. The amount of the coupon is not taken off the bill, rather users select between a deposit into their bank or PayPal account, an Amazon gift card or a donation to the charity American Forests to help plant trees. More payout options will be introduced in the coming months.
