Foods Co. expects to kick off its foray into Oakland this summer.
The Kroger Co.-owned grocery chain has three Oakland locations in the works with the first starting construction in July and opening in early 2012.
That 72,000-square-foot store will be located in the Foothill Square Shopping Center in East Oakland.
The other sites, one in West Oakland and another at the corner of 66th Avenue and San Leandro Street near the Oakland Coliseum, will be built in 2012 and 2013 respectively. Construction lasts about six months per store.
