Farm Bureau Offers Baisch & Skinner Flower Distribution Center Tour

Newton, Ill. — Have you ever wondered how your local florist always has so many beautiful, fresh cut flowers on hand? Join the Jasper County Farm Bureau® Primetimers as we take an exclusive tour of the Baisch and Skinner Flower Distribution Center located in the heart of the Flower Market in St. Louis on Thursday, June 2. This 160,000 square foot facility includes enormous cut flower coolers, greenhouses, and all the trimmings that make up the flower industry. Learn the intricate details of the operations on the flower distribution market. Observe firsthand on how this industry operates and how they maintain fresh flowers at hteir facility. Every type of plant and flower imaginable from all over the world is brought into this facility for delivery to your local florist.

After the tour, you will board the bus to head for lunch at one of St. Louis' favorites, The Old Spaghetti Factory.

After lunch, we will head to the famous Botanical Gardens of St. Louis. We have reserved a private tram, just for our group, to give a tour of this breath taking location. Or, if you wish, feel free to walk at your leisure through the Gardens on your own. The old Tower Grove House has just been renovated and will be opened for us to tour as well. This Victorian style hoome of the Botanical Gardens founder Henry Shaw was completely renovated in 2005 and much of Shaw's furnishings have been tracked down and placed back into the home.
