MONTREAL – Guylaine Lacroix is targeting a client who actually resembles herself. She is the owner of Quebec's first online store for garden annuals and continues to help run a Laval greenhouse operation that grows almost 3 million flower, herb and vegetable plants a year for Montreal-area nurseries.
After a long day, she says she has neither the time nor the inclination to then head out from her home (which overlooks the operations of 15 greenhouses) to buy many of the things she needs. She searches for products on the Internet.
"I love the quiet at night. It gives me time to browse," said the 48-yearold Lacroix, who buys everything from undergarments to Christmas gifts online.
This month, Lacroix, along with her husband, Mario, and son Dominic, launched fleursannuelles. com with the idea that there are many people who are comfortable shopping online, can't find the time to head out to the garden centre, but want to spruce up their balcony or yard.
