Le Grand, CA – In 1962, Joe Marchini noticed that the variety of almond tree planted to create a natural barrier along the edge of the family orchard bore an almond different from the rest of his trees. To his surprise, these almonds had a mild sweet flavor and a creamy texture much like the Marcona almond grown in Catalan, Spain. After patiently cultivating the tree’s offspring, the Marchini family was granted a patent from the United States Patents and Trademarks Office in 2001 for the Marchini Almond variety of the Almond tree.
Marchini Almonds are medium sized, have slightly wrinkled skin, and the tree produces an abundant number of almonds. According to Joe Marchini’s grandson, Marc Marchini, “The Marchini Almond is the perfect nut for blanching, so we decided to process this almond and market our very own blanched, lightly roasted and lightly salted California-grown Marchini Almond – an ideal nut for snacking and entertaining.” The Marchini Almond is available exclusively from J. Marchini Farms.
The popular 8-ounce resealable container of Marchini Almonds retails for $3.99 to $5.99. Look for Marchini Almonds in the produce section at grocery stores throughout California. J. Marchini Farms also sells 1-pound containers (12/case). Both retail packs are available for purchase online.
