Bacon Prices Skyrocket In Arizona

New figures from the Arizona Farm Bureau show that the price of consumer goods in the state is rising, and bacon-lovers will feel the sting the most.

The group’s Market Basket Survey of 16 basic grocery items showed prices were up four percent, or $1.89, from last year’s first-quarter results. The market basket price reflects the sting consumers are feeling at the gas pump and the grocery store as the economy struggles to regain stability.

The Market Basket Survey checked in at $47.85 in the first quarter — up $2.41, or 5 percent, since the start of the year. Of the 16 items surveyed, six decreased and ten increased in comparison to end-of-2010 prices.
