Organics Unlimited Expands Growing Operation In Mexico

San Diego, CA – Worldwide organic banana demand continues to increase, and Organics Unlimited is expanding operations to meet that demand. Company-owned farms in Colima, MX are adding 80 acres of production this season, which represents a sizeable increase in available product in the future.

“With a focus on expanding, but also maintaining our mission of sustainability, the added acreage is only part of our new program,” says Organics Unlimited President Mayra Velazquez de Leon. “We are also adding a shade house for propagation of new plants, an important step in increasing production without substituting quality. In keeping with our natural environment, this shade house will be built entirely of coconut palm fronds from our existing organic coconut palms.”

While bananas continue to be the top selling item in most produce departments, organic bananas are now a mainstream commodity in most markets as well. Consumers concerned about both health and environmental factors have caused double digit growth of organic produce in most categories. Organics Unlimited’s GROW program also provides health and education programs for their workers’ communities. This added benefit for the area’s families is a vital factor for the company and for organic consumers.

Organics Unlimited is a San Diego-based distributor of organic tropical fruits from Mexico and South America. GROW bananas are available exclusively from Organics Unlimited. For more information on Organics Unlimited and GROW, visit their website at www.organicsunlimited.com or call 619.710.0658.
